LINCOLN BOYS CHOIR TO PERFORM MAY THE MUSIC BE WITH YOU CONCERT ON May 4

LINCOLN BOYS CHOIR TO PERFORM MAY THE MUSIC BE WITH YOU CONCERT ON May 4

Get ready for a cosmic musical adventure across the galaxy! The Lincoln Boys Choir proudly presents May the Music Be With You, as their annual spring concert, on Sunday, May 4, in the O’Donnell Auditorium at the Vance D. Rogers Fine Arts Building, located at 50th and Huntington Avenues on the Nebraska Wesleyan University campus.

This out-of-this-world performance is a playful salute to the cultural phenomenon of May the 4th, affectionately known as Star Wars Day. The celebration comes from the iconic phrase "May the Force be with you," transformed into the pun "May the Fourth be with you" by fans around the world. In that same spirit, Lincoln Boys Choir invites you to experience an evening of epic scores, heavenly harmonies, and a stellar mix of music—from light pop to timeless choral masterpieces. Star Wars costumes are encouraged.

Several pieces will be accompanied by the Lincoln Early Music Consort, who will also share a few stand-alone selections, adding even more variety to this galactic concert event.

The Lincoln Boys Choir, welcoming boys aged 8–18, features both unchanged and changed voice ensembles. Members are selected through membership appointments. While music teacher recommendations are encouraged, interested families may also schedule membership appointments directly through LincolnBoysChoir.org.

The ensembles are led by outstanding music educators:

  • Eric Wyler, director of music education at Nebraska Wesleyan University, conducts Vocal Point, the changed voice ensemble.

  • Andrew Seuferer, general music teacher at Holmes Elementary School and assistant show choir director at Lincoln Southwest High School, conducts Noteworthy, the unchanged voice ensemble. Seuferer is also a recent recipient of the 10/11 Golden Apple Award.

The choir’s long history of collaborations includes performances with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Varsity Men’s Chorus, Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir, Lincoln Choral Artists, Omaha Symphony, and Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra. They have also been featured at the National Orff and Kodály Conference, the Nebraska Music Educators Association Conference, and the Nebraska Choral Directors Association Conference, among other prestigious events.

In 2014, the Lincoln Boys Choir was awarded the Richard Hay Arts Organization Award by the Lincoln Arts Council, recognizing their significant contributions to the arts community.

The Lincoln Boys Choir is an incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a board of directors. For more information, ways to contribute, membership appointments, and a complete schedule of performances, visit LincolnBoysChoir.org.
